My teacher assigned groups for our science project. We are supposed to do research online to find information for our report. One of the kids in my group is playing computer games instead of looking for information online. When the teacher comes over to check on us he quickly minimizes the game and acts like he is reading and taking notes so she thinks everything is ok. I am upset that we are doing all the work and worried that we will get a bad grade. What should I do?

I would not tell on him but if its a letter grade tell him to stop playing games and get busy or he/she will get a bad grade. Then he will have to explain to the teacher why he got a bad grade while he/she was supposeably taking notes.

The group should tell him stop it or leave becaues we are not going to do all of the work for you.

I’m afraid that if it’s a “group grade”, than you will have to tell the teacher. I would hate to see you get a lower grade because someone else wasn’t a team player.

Tell the teacher to look for a game at the bar at the bottom. That way if he is hiding the game, she’ll see what he’s doing.

I think the best answer for this situation is to go with a friend that is in your group after school and discuss the problem with your teacher

I would tell the kid to start working because we are doing all the work. If after that the kid still does not work then I would tell him that I am going to tell the teacher because he/she is not doing their fair share of work and I all ready told them not to play on the computer.

That is a relatable topic for me. It has happend to me. First I tried to make the best of it and go along with it. If it is constant then I would tell them that , You need to finish this work with us because I am not going to make my grade suffer my grade from you. You shouldn’t be making my grade worse. If they then still keep making your group do all the work then confront the teacher about the problem and ask if you can redo the project and start it by yourself. That is why I like to work on my own.

I think the best salutiion is that this person should tell the person who is playing the games that if you want to get a good grade on the project then to stop and if they dont listen then i would of told the teacher and they are more than likeley to get in trouble.

I believe that you should go up to this student, & ASK him do you know what your suppose to be doing at this point of time. If he says ”NO”! I would tell him that sense your in my group, & we want to get an A+, you should be working. Now if he doesn’t listen to you, then i would go up to the teacher ,and say that he knows what he’s suppose to be doing, BUT is not doing it. Then you would take off from there.

I have a friend & we play around a -lot, BUT when we get in class he starts to play around again. Then all the sudden the teacher turns around & says I’m in trouble, so I tell the teacher it was him, so he gets in trouble.Like a day later, he starts making trouble again, but I don’t want him to get in trouble again, WHAT SHOULD I DO? OH, & I make some trouble to, not only him.

I would tell my friend that the most important issue is our group work. I would tell my friend to play on his computer games on the weekend not during school time. A good grade = group work.

    KF Washington’s Dad

I would not give her the answer but suggest that she talk to her prof about what happened the night before with her sister. Hopefully the teacher would understand and maybe allow her to turn in her homework the next day. If my friend gets mad at me I will tell her to try to understand that I want to help her but not that way. I would also tell her that I value her friendship. If my friend chooses not to talk to me anymore that’s her choice. Each of us makes choices about how to respond to bad situations.

If he still kept playing the game I would talk to the teacher about it later in private.
